Alane Bearder is a digital strategy and consumer engagement expert with  30 years of experience in creative strategy development and implementation of multimedia marketing and sales promotion programs, including hands-on creative execution and creative team management.

Ms. Bearder brings real-world experience to her teaching approach, from roles as an art + editorial Creative Director for advertising agencies and Sr. Marketing Manager for a major strategic communications firm. Her work spans high tech, manufacturing, financial, institutional, retail, and consumer product industries, as well as pharmaceutical, medical device, provider, and patient communications. In the past decade, her work has focused on user experience (UX) design and content strategy for Fortune 100 and 500 companies such as Anthem BCBS, UPS, and Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative. In addition to designing and launching social media and customer engagement programs for highly regulated industries, Ms. Bearder served as a project lead for evaluating consumer journeys and mapping action plan programs for the USDA and a 26-state Care Management Organization.

Over the course of her career, Ms. Bearder’s design, video, and marketing work has earned over 20 awards from the American Advertising Federation, the Business Marketing Association, Pharmaceutical Executive magazine, the Printing Industry of Georgia and of the Carolinas, the Society for Technical Communication, and the International Technical Communicators Competition.

In addition to being the owner of a Digital Marketing Strategy firm, Ms. Bearder serves on the adjunct faculty of a major University’s  Masters in Communication program. Her university course in Visual Communication in the Digital Age received an international Catalyst Award for Teaching and Learning.
